hire FAQs

capacity:
venue maximum capacity is 300, which includes crew, artists, guest list and promoters. we recommend to put out no more than 280 advance tickets

bar seated capacity is 60, and standing is 150

for bar events, we recommend to stick to the specials board bit, which seats about 30 people

standard hire fee includes:

- sound engineer (10pm-3am clubs; 3pm-10pm gigs)
- in-house equipment
- welfare (clubs)
- security (clubs / gigs)
- cloak room (depending on attendance, time of year and requests)
- bar
- cash float for box office- stamp

box office can be requested at additional feel which depends on the running times.

times & equipment

standard load in time for clubs:
10pm with access to green room from 10:30pm
event running time 11pm-3am

standard load in time for eve/day events:
3/4pm with soundchecks between 5pm and 7pm (weekdays)
load in and soundcheck times more flexible on saturdays and sundays
event running time 7pm-10pm - but we are happy to explore other arrangements if our availability allows.

please refer to our tech spec for available equipment.at this time we do not provide backline for live bands.

community and non-standard events + bar:
we always welcome non-standard events and try to accommodate as much as we can.

for events upstairs, we generally stay open for trade. however we can book out a portion of the bar (normally near the specials board)

our recommended times for events upstairs are weekdays 12-5, or after 9pm, as we get busy at dinner times.

we have a simple set up in the bar and can accomodate spoken word, acoustic performances and DJ sets.

promotional support and ticketing:

- monthly The Skinny listings inclusion
- monthly listings poster, both digital and in print
- website listings
- weekly listings posted the week of the event
- promotional materials posted on IG by organisers is shared on stories and on feed when a collaboration request is sent - feel free to request a collab for posters, artist spotlights, updates, or video clips
- stereo monthly newsletterorganisers are responsible for their own ticketing arrangements.

for clubs, we recommend posting your event on RA as most of our demographics use the platform

additionally, we pitch our events to RA for picks and news features

for poster and flyer printing we recommend City Centre Mailboxes (111 West George Street).

you are welcome to put the posters for your events in stereo bar and venue at any time.

feel free to tag us on any photos after the event & make us a collaborator!

if you need any guidance on promo, our bookers are happy to help.

please note:
fly posting is illegal. if stereo incurs any fines due to fly posting, these costs will be recouped from the promoter.

this also poses a reputational risk and legal action for both us. we value our relationship with other venues in the city.

please do not exit flyer outside venues for the events on the same night and dont put posters up inside or outside other venues unless you get a permission from them.

decorations and stage design
we welcome decorations and stage design elements but please keep in mind our turnaround times between gigs and clubs is very tight (1 hour)
if you have ideas for stage design or additional lights please let us know in advance and we will advise what is possible.

note - we do not allow use of any liquids, confetti, or anything that can damage our equipment or pose a hazard for the audience.

if additional cleaning is required after your event, this will be charged extra on top of the hire fee.all decorations and extra equipment need to be cleared after the event unless agreed with the booker or the manager otherwise in advance.

dancers and performers on stage:

if you are working with dancers please let us know in advance. we don't allow any unauthorised people or members of the public on stage, only the performers.

lost & found
if you lost or left anything in the venue please call stereo during the opening hours ( 01412222254 ) or come in the next day.

programmers cannot answer enquiries re the lost items via emails, messages or dms.


our cancellation and hire fee policy:- hire fees must be cleared within 7 working daysupon receipt of the invoice. If we don’t receive a hire fee from you, we won’tbe able to host you again.
- should the event be cancelled by you with less than 4 weeks notice, 50% of the hire will be due.
- should the event be cancelled with less than 2 week’s notice, the full hire will be due and payable immediately.This is due to a very low chance of filling the spot, and to account for lostwages for our staff.
- if the event is cancelled due to an act of god, we will reschedule the event to the next available date.
- If the event is cancelled by us due to inability to use the space, we will notify you immediately and follow the insurance procedure. all options and next steps will be communicated transparently as soon as possible.
- If the event is cancelled due to failure to stick to the terms of this agreement by the organiser, stereo won’t be liable for any costs incurred by the promoter.
